Abbie Cheney
Abbie grew up in the Roaring Fork Valley as a third generation local. She has a degree from CU Boulder in strategic communications with an emphasis in media design. Abbie works as a communications specialist for Pitkin County where she uses her passion for communications to serve the community she deeply cares about. Outside of work, Abbie is an avid rafter and spent four years guiding on the Colorado River and on multiday trips in Idaho, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. With her camera in hand, she also enjoys backpacking, skiing, and biking in the beautiful surrounding areas of the Roaring Fork Valley. Abbie is a helpline volunteer for Advocate Safehouse Project in Glenwood Springs and has used her communications skills volunteering for various non–profits, including Women’s Wilderness and the Boulder-based group SPAN (Safehouse Progressive Alliance for Nonviolence). Abbie comes to RFL passionate about bringing vulnerability and authenticity to leadership and is excited to expand her leadership skills and refine the ways that she interacts with her community.
