An RFL Academy 2023 civic project team was recognized in a Letter to-the Editor in the Post Independent for their hard work organizing a a fundraiser hang-out to benefit the Aspen Camp of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The event took place before the April 14 Motet Concert at TACAW and raised over $5,000 from ticket sales, donations, and a silent auction. The team included RFL Academy 2023 members, Kristen Strope, Emily Pixberg, Hana Maclean, Alex Lincoln, Mark Viola and Tyler Stevens. The letter notes:
“This ambitious group of individuals are valley residents who cared enough about helping the camp to not only raise a significant amount of money that will go towards this year’s Camp programs but also put the Camp in the spotlight for an evening. The Roaring Fork Leadership program is strengthening the valley with its community focused leadership development program. The ACDHH Board is so grateful to it and this winter/spring team.”
Every year, participants in the RFL Academy program take on a civic project aimed at helping our community. Working together in teams on their project gives participants the opportunity to practice “being a leader” in a real-world setting, cementing the leadership skills learned throughout their 10 months of training in the Academy program.
