Justin Blumenthal, born and raised in Colorado, grew up in Lakewood before earning a BA in Geosciences from Colorado State University in 2014. He has extensive hands-on farming experience across Oregon, New York, Minnesota, and the Front Range of Colorado, which led him to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2023 to join Seed Peace and Wild Mountain Seeds. His involvement with Wild Mountain Seeds has ignited an interest in regenerative agricultural practices as well as regionally adaptive seed supplies to help the community grow healthier food. Outside of work, Justin enjoys cycling in all its forms and has completed amateur races, including his first 50+ mile mountain bike race last year. Farming is more than a profession for him—it is a means to create more passionate growers and a more resilient food system in the RFV and beyond. Justin was drawn to the RFL Academy through a recommendation from a previous alum, recognizing the program as an opportunity to grow as he stepped into larger leadership responsibilities on the farm. He aims to become a leader that others can rely on, balancing delegation with engagement and respect.
Through the Academy, Justin looks forward to connecting with fellow community members, learning from their experiences, and refining his leadership skills. He hopes any civic project undertaken will make a meaningful impact on the Roaring Fork + Colorado River Valley, even in small ways, and is grateful for the chance to collaborate with others who want to make a difference.
