At Roaring Fork Leadership, we celebrate organizations that embody leadership through service to our community. This month, we’re thrilled to highlight the Aspen Camp of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, a remarkable organization chosen as one of RFL Academy’s Civic Impact Projects

Nestled in a 15-acre riparian forest along Snowmass Creek, Aspen Camp has served as a national treasure for more than 50 years. As the only year-round camp in the country dedicated to the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and signing communities, Aspen Camp provides experiential, outdoor, and educational programming that fosters connection—to nature, to others, and to self.

This year, the RFL Academy 2025 cohort is partnering with Aspen Camp through a Civic Impact Project that blends adaptive community engagement with physical site enhancements. The project includes immersive workshops to deepen regional understanding of the deaf, hard of hearing, blind, and deafblind experiences, as well as tangible improvements to camp accessibility like tactile signage and lighting upgrades.

For Academy participants, the project offers a powerful learning opportunity in disability advocacy, accessibility, and inclusive design. For Aspen Camp, it’s a meaningful step toward strengthening its community ties and enhancing the environment for future generations of campers.

This partnership reflects RFL’s mission to develop leaders who engage inclusively, think critically, and act collaboratively to strengthen our communities. By working alongside Aspen Camp, participants are living that mission—creating lasting, values-driven impact for a more equitable Roaring Fork Valley.

We are honored to highlight a partner whose work so closely mirrors our own values of leadership, inclusion, and impact. Learn more about Aspen Camp and its vital mission at www.aspencamp.org.
