Project Name:  2-1-1 Media Campaign in the RFV

Project Description: 2-1-1 is a confidential information and referral navigation service connecting people in need to local community resources. 2-1-1 serves 16 counties on the Western Slope. 2-1-1 is seeking assistance to develop a Media Campaign promoting 2-1-1 in the Roaring Fork Valley, where 2-1-1 is not yet robustly known and utilized.

Project Name: Project PACK – PitCo

Project Description: Project PACK started as a grassroots project in Garfield County. We provide necessary personal items for children who cannot return home in a family crisis. We have partnered with the Sheriff’s department, Child Protective Services, River Bridge, and many local organizations and individuals to create a store room of supplies accessible 24-hours a day/seven days a week. Our goal for the coming year is to expand this program to Pitkin County.

Project Name: RFCCL Next Generation Leaders

Project Description: This project centers around the question “What is the Roaring Fork Valley community doing to prepare the next generation of leaders?”. I am looking for a thorough investigation of what exists and a creative recommendation for program(s) that would improve the caliber of young leaders in the valley.

Project Name:  English In Action Tutor Recruitment Campaign

Project Description:  English In Action (EIA) seeks to train 75 volunteer tutors in 2017. Volunteers engage in weekly one-on-one tutoring sessions to help adult immigrants learn English, thereby improving their own lives and the lives of their family. We’re looking to meet that goal through innovative strategies for our valley-wide tutor outreach campaign.

Project Name: Accessible Playgrounds

Project Description: We need an accessible playground in our local area. The closest accessible playgrounds are in Grand Junction and Denver and we have families living in our area who could utilize one (or many)!

Project Name: Enchanted Forest at Smiling Goat Ranch

Project Description: Smiling Goat Ranch implements The Horse Boy Method – a tried and tested, scientifically proven method of gaining communication and re-patterning the brain for people on the autism spectrum, with ADD, ADHD, Anxiety; and for veterans with PTSD, using horses, movement and a natural environment. The Enchanted Forest is the only undeveloped piece on the property. In addition, it represents the important need to develop an overall strategic plan for vision, mission and out-of-the-box thinking. Lack of a strategic plan has been a huge gap in this fast-growing nonprofit, but with a year of lessons under our belt, it’s the perfect time to create one. We see using the Enchanted Forest as an opportunity to build this plan, bring key players to the table to see this specific project become a reality and at the same time address the big picture of where we want to go. The Enchanted Forest needs improvements to an existing Tree House, including creating a lower level platform for small children and reinforcement to railing and ladder on an existing level. We have an architect interested in designing. We also want to create a meditative labyrinth-like walk for veterans to create a journey to their own center and back out again into the world. To take advantage of an already existing high water table, we envision a solar–powered stream and two ponds, including a stream to run from trail head to a culvert by the horse pasture to the Tree House and one pond in between horse pasture and trail head and one pond by tree house (mostly needs clearing to allow for larger pond.) We also envision a bridge that will continue the walking path across the pond and bridge large enough and strong enough to hold a horse and two riders.
